Aaron Calhoun and the Dynamic Duo

I've got this recently in my mail:

Aaron Calhoun and the Dynamic Duo at the Champs Bar, Wanchai

"At the live Hong Kong shows expect to hear unreleased songs ranging from bossa nova to others reminiscent of the early Fab Four. Don't try to pigeon hole this guy's music - not only will you hurt yourself, but you'd have an easier time finishing up Einstein's work on a unified field theory. Leave it at this: Songs that are built to last. Catchy melodies, thoughtful arrangements and great vocals. "

The music I normally listen to, is generally described by the people around me in the range of crazy mayhem to the utterly unlistenable.
So excuse me that when I hear :"Bossa Nova, catchy melodies, thoughtful arrangements" I am not jumping up and down the aisle with excitement and anticipation. It's more likely that I get that strange twitchy feeling in my left shoulder.

But that PR clip came from my friend Chris. And Chris is somebody who doesn't take shit from nobody. She has enough style to nonchalantly scrape a dead frog off the pavement to include into her fusion dinner and she knows what great music sounds like. That's good enough credentials for me anytime, and so I went.
Thanks to a well known international brewery's generosity we were able to get loaded on free beer.
That in itself was kind of tempting. Free booze is a major factor in my style.
I met Aaron Calhoun and Zachary Sempers and they seemed like a couple of really nice guys.
Generously, I let them do the first couple of songs to warm up before I got up to totally distract them by shooting them the shy way, Stick Insect Hunter way.
Once those guys started playing, it didn't sound bad at all. Call me sentimental or whatever but I actually really liked it and it grows on you.
They couldn't start the second set because one of the guys apparently wandered off to Wanchai to get involved with some of the local entertainment. It was late and I too had parties to attend and places to go.
At this point I had to cut the niceties short and go to the bathroom to shoot the man's urinal. After all it is a sports bar and I wasn't there to have fun.
